Latvia only entered the MICHELIN Guide in 2024, and the 2026 selection recommends thirty-four restaurants nationally, twenty-seven of them in Riga, with two stars and five Bib Gourmands. What that means in practice is a small, fast-moving scene where quality is high but addresses change; it is worth confirming that a restaurant is trading before you build an evening around it.
Straightforward. The airport is about ten kilometres out and is the busiest in the Baltics, so connections within the region are good; bus 22 runs to the central station in around half an hour, and taxis take twenty minutes or so. There is no train from the airport yet. From German-speaking Europe the flight is roughly two hours, and there is no practical rail alternative — which is why arrangements here are planned with more notice than usual.
